Arvind Remedies to Set Up Manufacturing
Facility In TN

The Chennai based, Arvind Remedies Limited is
setting up a world-class facility near Chennai
to take up manufacturing of tablets, injectibles
and soft gelatin capsules.
The facility will confirm to the US FDA and
UK MCA Standards and will involve an investment
of Rs.50 Crore. The facility will be operational
by 2003 adn will be funded through term loans
and internal accruals. The company also intends
to re-focus the therapeutic segments it will
be present in and is looking at endochronology,
dermatology, cardiovascular diseases and nutrition
as the new focus areas and intends to launch
newer products over the next year. These segments
would contribute to 30 percent of the turnover
in future.
The company is already present in pediatrics,
pain management, gynaecology and diabities segment,
which together contribute around 60 percent
of the company's total turnover.
Currently, allopathic medicines contribute around
70 percent of the total revenues of Arvind Remedies,
and the balance comes from ayurvedic medicines.
The company is also planning to launch a number
of novel nutritional products to increase its
range.
"Our focus area in future will be marketting
our ayurveda products in the domestic and international
markets " managing director and CEO, Arvind
Remedies Limited, Arvind Shah told The Financial
Express.
The company has already developed speciality
ayurvedic products - 'Pankare' , which is a
holistic drug for diabities.
"The product is based on herbal formulation
as enunciated in ayurveda, which is a comprehensive
combination of nine sanjeevinies and offer restoration,
regeration and rejuvination of pancreatic beta
cells, " Mr Shah added.
"Pankare is the outcome of our research
and development activities in ayurveda adn is
a unique formulation in the management of diabities,
" he added.
